Community Matters Fund (Fuel Poverty 2024) is now closed for applications

This winter, National Grid Electricity Distribution has again teamed up with Localgiving to deliver grants to charitable organisations tackling fuel poverty in their communities. With the twin challenge of the price of energy and the cost of living still present for many across the country, support is as important as ever and this £500,000 fund is now available to help.

Localgiving scoops Charity Times Awards for impactful partnership with National Grid and Roshni Birmingham.

"We are over the moon to have won a Charity Times Award, particularly given the very high calibre of projects in our category and across the night as a whole – it was a privilege to be among such wonderful causes and organisations."

Community Story: Cegin Hedyn

"With support from volunteers and local partners, we turned this vision into reality, combining a community kitchen and an allotment project that’s driven by the principle of food sovereignty."

"If it were not for supporters like yourself providing financial aid in the form of grants and ongoing contributions, we would simply not be able to run our charity and enable our vital and much-needed work to continue. For this, we offer our deepest gratitude."

Charity of the month - Leeds Women's Aid

Leeds Women's Aid has been working for over 50 years to support women and children to live in safety, free from Domestic Violence & Abuse. They provide a range of the very best services for vulnerable women and families who are victims and survivors of: domestic, sexual & honour based violence and abuse; forced marriage; trafficking; stalking and harassment. They help and support hundreds of women and families each year. The aim of their work is to give women and families affected by domestic violence and abuse the confidence and strength to move onto safe independent living, improve their life chances and provide them with the best possible chance of living a life free from domestic violence and abuse.

"Localgiving has been fantastic in providing a capable online fundraising platform that is easy to setup, user friendly and allows us to claim Gift Aid. It has also meant we’ve had access to extra fundraising opportunities and grants such as Magic Little Grants and more recently the National Grid community fund."
